The HPR Class is pleased to announce that its 2013 Midwinter Championship Regatta will be held in Miami, Florida over March 4-9 2013. This first-ever HPR championship event will share the same shoreside venue at the Miami Beach Marina and the same race area as the 2013 TP52 World Championship, being held over March 2-9 2013.
The event is open to any entry between 38 and 45 feet with a valid HPR certificate. Registration will be held on Monday, March 4, practice racing on Tuesday, March 5, and windward-leeward course racing over Wednesday – Saturday, March 6-9. Race management will be conducted by the Storm Trysail Club and the Biscayne Bay YC. The deadline to enter without a late fee is February 1, 2013.
“We’re very excited to have taken this next step in the evolution of HPR,” said Steve Benjamin, a founding member of HPR and co-owner with wife Heidi of the Carkeek 40 Spookie. “We’ve quickly gone from being a concept a year ago to now having our own rules, a workable rating system, scoring at events like Quantum Key West, and now our own event shared with one of the best classes in the world. We expect to have a good turnout of boats who want to have one last event in the winter season, and look forward to having great racing in Miami.”
